What happens after your (or you child’s) autism diagnosis? In this article Kieran Rose explains his perspective of what an autism diganosis means and what support there is.

As a parent facing the prospect that your child might be Autistic, especially when you have no previous experience of Autism, it can be a daunting and terrifying prospect.

As an adult, conversely, it can be a liberating experience, allowing you to you realise your true self.

Either way, in this video I have some tips to share.

I’ll be mostly covering child diagnosis, but some of it is applicable to adult diagnosis too.

As I mention in the video, I have covered diagnosis from an adult’s perspective, using my own experience and the things I have learnt from other Autistic people and their experiences. So to read my thoughts and experiences of adult diagnosis and how to survive the aftermath, please see my article: An Autistic diagnosis

MY THOUGHTS ON GETTING AN AUTISM DIAGNOSIS

I truly hope the video has given you some useful information to take away and helps to answer your question of what happens after you get an autism diagnosis.

I also promise in the video a list of Autistic bloggers and books that can help support parents (and Autistic adults, so it’s below.  This list is not final and it is subject to change and, the non-inclusion of any writer is not meant as a sleight, more that I either haven’t gotten round to reading you or just haven’t remembered to include you yet!

Best Books About Autism

You might find my blog post; Good Books about Autism useful.

If you’ve found this article useful you can support my work by donating any amount from $3 (about the same as a coffee – mine’s a caramel latte please!).

I know not everyone wants, or needs to buy one of my training courses, but I often find people will read one of my free articles and want to say ‘thank you’ (and this is really appreciated as they’re a lot of work to write!) Buying me a virtual coffee is a really easy way to say thanks. It also supports me to keep being able to create new, free content and keep my older, free content up-to-date. It also allows me to keep my website ad-free!

My Autism FAQs page is a good place to start if you’re new to my work and want to explore more. Thanks for your support, Kieran.
