An original ebook/catalogue from Kieran Rose

180+ Recommended Autism Positive Books: ebook/catalogue

A comprehensive list of 180+ Autism positive books, compiled by Kieran Rose.

This is the e-book version of one of Kieran's most visited blog posts; his recommended Best Autism Books list. Originally published as blog on The Autistic Advocate website in 2020 this list has been read by thousands of people.

It started as quite a small list of around 50 books.

And then, over the years, it has grown and now lists over 180 books (and continues to grow!).

As the list grew it became harder to both maintain and use within a blog format; so we created the ebook/catalogue (we still don't know quite what to call it!) when the list hit 90 books. It is now sitting at 180+ books.

The original blog is free to read online (and always will be) here: https://theautisticadvocate.com/recommended-autism-positive-books/

Why an ebook format?

Many of Kieran's blog posts are more like short books as they can run into the tens of thousands of words! They will always be free to read online, but sometimes it's nice to have something physical too.

For two of Kieran's most widely read articles (An Autistic Burnout and An Autistic Identity) we have created ebook versions so that you can print/read on your device.

The Autism Positive Books ebook is a little different to Kieran's other two ebooks as it more of a catalogue/directory.

There are currently 180+ listed in the catalogue. Each book has its own page which includes the title, author, book cover and book description. There is also space for your notes and a place to give your rating of the book.

Kieran has also categorised each book into a number of categories e.g. Autistic Experience, Theory and Practice, Young People and many more.

It also includes a few 'Top 10 Book Lists' and a section of for all the books which Kieran has contributed to.

The ebook format provides you with a pdf which you can save to read on any of your devices and also print out.

You click straight through to buy the books (from Amazon and/or Bookshop) from within the pdf.

  • Autistic people, professionals, parents and carers.

  • People who like to support independent bookshops (as we provide links to purchase from Bookshop which then places your order with an independent bookshop).

    Frequently Asked Questions

Some of the most commonly asked questions about my on-demand autism training. If you have anything else you would like to ask please email us at michelle<at>theautisticadvocate.com

How do I request an addition to the catalogue?

If there is a book you think Kieran should read and add to his list please to let us know!

Tell us what the book is and why you think he should add it.

Kieran will only add books to the list once he had read them and/or used them for reasearch purposes, but we appreciate the recommendations.

We do gets lots of requests from authors to add their books to this list and often Kieran has already bought their book but has yet to read it. A book won't be added until Kieran has read it.

Please be kind if you're an author and find yourself in this position; Kieran only has limited time 💕

Sometimes a book in on the list before it has been published and that is usually because Kieran has received an pre-publication copy.

You can email Michelle with your suggestions at michelle@theautisticadvocate.com

How long do I have access for?

For my own on-demand trainings you have lifetime access. This means the lifetime of the training, not your lifetime (or Kieran's lifetime!!). Should we decide to no longer sell the training we will give you plenty of notice so that you have time to watch everything. Where I have co-created trainings with other people the lenght of access may differ and this will be clearly explained on the info page.

    Can I ask Kieran questions?

All of my on-demand trainings are pre-recorded and don't have any direct access to me.

I have bought my place but am struggling to access the training inside of Teachable. Can you help?

Please email Michelle and she will help you - michelle<at>theautisticadvocate.com

    How do I contact you?

    Via email; michelle<at>theautisticadvocate.com

Why do you charge in multiple currencies? What if my currency isn't listed?

We're based in th UK and have students worldwide so we offer $USD, GBP and Euro payments as standard.

Our online school is hosted on the Teachable platform. Payments are processed via Teachable's own checkout system.

If you'd like to pay in your on currency please email michelle<at>theautisticadvocate.com, let us know your currency and we can send you a payment link for most international currencies (if we put them all on the sales page it gets a bit messy, which is why we have only listed used the 3 most commonly used currencies!).

We will convert from GBP to your currency.

To buy Curating Healthy Lifestyles in Canadian Dollars it will be 22$CAN and in Australian Dollars it will be $25AUS.

    Why am I paying tax?

Students may have to pay tax at their local rate. This is calculated, and dealt with by Teachable (where we host our online school and where payments are taken), as per the tax rules in your country/state.

We do not receive any of your tax.

UK customers are not currently subject to UK VAT.

We do need you to complete the relevant section on the checkout page if you are a business/charity etc so that the sales tax is dealt with correctly.

Does the course come with CEU/CPD credits?

No, but they do all have the option to download a personalised completion certificate/

    Do you offer bursaries?

It has always been our aim that Kieran's online trainins are as accessible as possible.

However, if you want to buy the training but paying will make you struggle financially please contact us and we will always try to help you. We can offer full or part bursaries.

Can I buy spaces for family and friends?

Yes, Teachable now offers this feature. You can choose this option at the checkout for all of our trainings. You would need to buy a place for each individual person as each purchase gives one person access.

    Do you offer refunds?

No. Due to the immediate access you receive to all of the training and resources we do not offer refunds.

We are willing to be flexible for up to 30 days if you have not accessed any of the training material you purchased. If you accessed any of the material within 30 days we reserve the right not to offer you a refund.

Whilst this may sound harsh, we do this to discourage people from signing up, downloading all of the course materislas, and then 'complaining' and demanding a refund (this happens more than you believe!). We run a business which supports our family so we try to be firm, yet fair.

We do have terms and conditions (https://theautisticadvocate.com/terms/) if you would like to see these before deciding to make your purchase.

Why do you swap between 'I' and 'we' on this page?

Good question! Kieran creates all of the training and when it's him talking about that he uses 'I' e.g. 'I created The Inside of Autism.'

However, we're a family-run business as Michelle, Kieran's wife, supports him with marketing, running our online school, building the website, general admin etc. So if you spot a 'we' that's talking about something Michelle and Kieran do as a team.

    What is KMR Training?

The Autistic Advocate is one part of the business Kieran runs with his wife, Michelle Rose. Michelle supports Kieran and also offers marketing mentoring for small businesses. Together their business is called 'KMR Training' which stands for Kieran and Michelle Rose. You will see KMR Training on our Teachable platform and also on our invoices and it's nothing to worry about, it's definitely us!

Not in need of training, but still found my website useful?

I know not everyone wants, or needs to buy one of my training courses, but I often find people will read one of my free articles and want to say ‘thank you’ (and this is really appreciated as they’re a lot of work to write!)

Buying me a virtual coffee is a really easy way to say thanks.

It also supports me to keep being able to create new, free content and also keep my older, free content up-to-date. It also allows me to keep my website ad-free.

My Autism FAQs page is a good place to start if you’re new to my work and want to explore more. Thanks for your support, Kieran.
