"Not only am I a writer, but I also do other things."
In fact my writing earns me absolutely nothing. Everything you can read here on my website blog is absolutely free and, as you can see, there isn't even an advert to distract you.
But I do need to feed my children and pay my mortgage, so I have to earn an income somehow!
So, in addition to my on-demand autism training, I also offer bespoke training (both online and in-person) and consultancy.
If you choose to work with me, you can expect to be honestly and directly challenged to do better and you can expect that you will have a lot to learn, no matter how good you think your knowledge base is, or your services are.
I'm professional, patient and kind but I make my boundaries clear from the beginning. If you don't want to learn, or aren't prepared to make difficult changes based on hard truths and work to overcome challenges together, then I'm probably not the person for you and you probably aren't the organisation for me.
Kieran, The Autistic Advocate

When I create and deliver autism training, provide autism consultancy or talk at conferences I don't talk about me and 'my Autism'. Plenty of other Autistic speakers do tell their story, and shape their business around that, and I respect that.
I am focussed on challenging your perceptions of autism and advocating for change for the whole Autistic community on a systemic level. And I can't do that by only telling my story. Instead I can tell you the collective story of many Autistic voices and, by doing so, change the life outcomes for Autistic people everywhere.
Below are a few ideas of what I can offer, and I can make everything bespoke to you and the needs of your organisation and/or clients/staff/students/service-users.
My most popular training for organisations is The Inside of Autism for Groups as it's a mix of on-demand training, which your team can study in their own time and at their own pace and also includes 1-2-1 time with me. You can find out about that here: The Inside of Autism: For Groups.
If I'm not the best person to work with you, or if we can't make the dates work, then I'll always try my best to recommend someone else who I think will also do a great job for you.
All training and speaking enquiries go through my lovely wife Michelle (who works alongside me). Send her an email, explain what you're looking for and we'll go from there. We can arrange a complimentary Zoom chat to find out more about what you need and if I'm the best person to work with you. Michelle's email is michelle<at>theautisticadvocate.com
"Open-minded, humble, intelligent expression and able to listen and learn. He always has the best interests of Autistic people at heart and works tirelessly to promote understanding and acceptance of difference."
"Thank you so much for a really incredible session from Kieran. I am truly gobsmacked. Impeccably researched, at the cutting edge and most informative delivery so noticeably prepared with exceptional energy and effort. Truly comprehensive and enlightening work that is so much appreciated."
"Kieran Rose was a standout for me. I think that a critical consideration of the purpose of the education system in relation to attendance is really important. It’s rare to see a speaker with lived experience expertise at professional conferences. Dissenting voices are needed."
"I have learnt so much listening to Kieran! I now know so much about Autistic masking and burnout and that has made a world of difference to me. Thank you is not enough Kieran."
"Kieran is one of a few special individuals really intent on making this a better place for all people. A true Autistic Advocate with incredible insight, skilled and motivated to create positive change."
"What is good to reflect on is that the training is still talked about often. We piloted a new neurodiversity group this year (co-created with, and for, students) which was a massive success. Kieran’s phrase “islands of safety” came up A LOT. We also have a peer supervision group that is well-attended and people often refer to the training, and how it changed their thinking / approach."
"Kieran Rose was fantastic and was a real call to action, I came away inspired and with a fire reignited."
In-person Training Days
ONE-DAY, IN PERSON TRAINING
I have developed my own bespoke, one-day, specialist training on autism and Neurodiversity.
This training has been developed over a lifetime of personal and professional experience and has been developed with input from a number of Autistic people and psychologists. It’s a real mix of Autistic focus and up-to-date research and reframes autism and societal thinking in ways that are both useful and productive, rather than the usual theory model training.
Much of what I deliver is based on unlearning what you think you know about Autistic people and their life outcomes.
The training can be adapted to focus on areas of need requested by the client but, dependent on time restraints, generally covers the following areas:
The History of Autism, the Autism Industry, perceptions and misconceptions, what autism actually is, typical and atypical/internalisers and externalisers, Co-occurring Conditions, Gender, Sex and Minority groups, Neurodiversity, the social and Medical models of disability, Sensory differences, Meltdowns and shutdowns, Sensory invalidation, Communication, Myths and Older diagnoses, Invalidation, ‘Behaviour’, Trauma, Anxiety, Masking, Burnout, Acceptance and Identity, Self-compassion, Advocacy.
OPTIONAL: ADD AN ADDITIONAL 'REFLECTIVE PRACTICE' DAY
In addition to the one-day training you can also add an additional 'Reflective Practice Day'. This is usually for a smaller number of delegates as it's workshop based and much more colloborative in style. It allows your service/organisation to really look in-detail, and at on a practical level how you can make changes to improve the outcomes of the Autistic people you support. It is based on my Advoc8 Framework.
The 'Reflective Practice Day' can be straight after your initial training day. But I often find that people like some time to digest and discuss the first day. So there's most often around a month between the two days we spend together.
HALF-DAY WORKSHOPS
I can also deliver shorter, half day workshops on more foccussed topics on request.
I can deliver in-person in the UK and also internationally.
Please note: I do not drive, so rely on trains and taxis for UK travel and any onward international travel. I am based in the North East of England.

Live Webinars / Online training
I can deliver online webinars and Q&A’s covering a large range of topics. Some potential areas you might be interested in covering are;
I don't have 'pre-packaged'/off-the-shelf training for these topics as I always create a new training to meet the needs and objectives of the client. I am happy to offer a complimentary, no-obligation Zoom chat to discuss your needs.
I'd normally suggest giving as much time as you can (up to 3 hours wherever possible) for these sessions. This is because even one, specific topic is so connected to everything else that a shorter session rarely allows us to 'dig deep' and explore all of the crucial context.
I am also very happy to run guided discussions and 'in conversation with'/nterview style sessions. These are less formal than presentations but can still enable us to explore topics deeply. You are welcome to come up with the questions and/or we can take questions from your audience.
If you'd like me to deliver a session for your organisation, service or group, please get in touch.
I also offer a version of 'The Inside of Autism' for groups which enables organisations to access online training and also have direct 1-2-1 Q&A time with me on Zoom.
I have also been a guest on many podcasts and webinars and you can view a selection of them on the Podcasts page to enable you to get a feel for if I'm a good fit for you.

Professional Supervision
I have a small number of paid supervision slots for professionals.
This is a space for people who want to;
- Think critically about their work
- Challenge their own assumptions
- Be challenged in turn
- Reflect deeply on what it means to show up for others; ethically, compassionately and with accountability.
Whether you're in therapy, education, healthcare, research, social care, or any role that puts you in relationship with others this is an informal, but intentional, space where you can safely explore what you wish to explore.
You can find out more on my dedicated page: Supervision With Kieran
Consultancy
I offer a range of consultancy services, at an organisational level, which are bespoke to needs of the client. I have provided consultancy for a range of organisation. A few examples are; NHS Trusts, groups of schools (e.g. Academy trusts), charities both large and small.
This is usually a long term relationship and involves commitment from both parties and can include:
- Cutting edge training from an inside perspective
- Relevant knowledge in theory and practice
- Connecting organisations to the Autistic community and collaborative working
- Organisational change, policy, induction and CPD
- Improvement to client services
- Sensory reviews
- Client facing support and training
- Support around key messages and use of language
Consultancy from me is challenging and focused on helping your organisation or service to become as knowledgeable, inclusive, and equitable as possible, all the while framed around meeting the needs of Autistic people.
I have a large pool of Autistic professionals who can also contribute and specialist skills and insight to support the gaps in my personal knowledge.

Keynote Speaking
I have delivered at conferences and events of all sizes, all over the UK, Ireland, USA and Australia, both inperson and online.
I do not have one keynote which I deliver again and again. As wth my webinars; I don't have 'pre-packaged'/off-the-shelf keynotes.
Whilst I am often asked to speak on similar topics (e.g. Masking, Ecologies of Stigma etc) I will always create a new keynote to meet your needs and objectives. Even if you have seen me speak at a different event and enjoyed my talk it's likely that your own event will have a different theme/audience and I would adapt my keynote to suit.
I do prefer to deliver over a longer session wherever possible as I find that even one single topic is so interwoven with the many complex narratives surrounding Autistic people that 45 minutes is rarely enough to cover a topic in any true depth.
I am always happy to run an 'In Conversation With...' style of session as an alternative to a keynote. This allows us to have a conversation (you and/or your audience can set the questions in advance or in the moment) and it's a format which works really well and still allows for exploration of topics and themes.
I am happy to offer a complimentary, no-obligation Zoom chat to discuss your needs.
Please note: I do not drive, so rely on trains and taxis for UK travel and any onward international travel. I am based in the North East of England.

All of Kieran's interviews can be found on the Podcasts Page.
Despite his name The Autistic Advocate, Kieran isn't an advocate on a personal level for individuals.
His work is about advocating for change for the whole Autistic community on a systemic level.
Despite this we get daily requests to speak with parents and Autistic individuals to support them through the diagnostic process, the EHCP process, school and exam adjustments, school trauma, reasonable adjustments at work, work tribunals, recommendations for therapists, other signposting advice, family law processes and so much more.
There is only Kieran in the business with Michelle (his wife) supporting him on a part time basis (around home-educating all three of their autistic kids) and if he agreed to every request he could literally fill his diary each week and wouldn't be able to do any of his other work. Even just replying to the volume of emails we receive to explain that we can't help is a really big job.
And as so many of the people who came to us were often vulnerable and had had awful experiences we didn't feel comfortable charging them and would end up doing so much work for free. This led to usgenuinely struggling to manage financially as a family.
So we have made the decision that Kieran no longer provides one-to-one/private consultations.
Whilst we understand that this must be really frustrating to read, we also hope you understand that as an Autistic person it's really important for Kieran to protect his own energy and mental health and to focus on where he feels he can make the most impact.
We do have a Resources list which may help to signpost you and if you email Michelle we will happily send this to you. Michelle's email is michelle<at>
Thank you for your understanding, Kieran and Michelle
And, as a thank you for joining, you'll get a 10% off code emailed to you which you can use on Kieran's on-demand autism training
